Default need some ideas on next step

Ok, mods are in sig. I just bought a DD, and i need some thoughts on what yall think i should do next.

Goal => Reliable, consistent 9.8X sec car (street/strip)

Shortblock: ls2 402, ls3 418

Power adder: DP N20 (200-250 shot), FI (procharger)

Concerns:
1) I have a lot of money in the car already. I would really like to keep my AFR 205s, but am concerned that they will choke a big CI motor. I could sell them, but would prefer to keep them.

2) Transmission: Should i bite the bullet and go th400?? Would love to keep the t-56 but am concerned that i won't reach my goal.

Opinions, critisims???

Reliable , consistent 9.8x car sounds very expensive brother. I am sure there will be an unlimited amount of opinions soon to come. Good luck on your goal.

Why is that? At 3100-3200 #s, assuming decednt 60 fts, i would assume that 700-800 rwhp would get you there. thats just a 500 rwhp shortblock with 250 hp N2O shot. Not arguing, just asking what makes the cars unreliable/inconsitent?

Just seems like reliable, and consistent when used in the car world equate to expensive. BTW I went back and read your original post and realized you meant F1 or DP 250, not both. Nitrous is very reliable from what I have read. Not much personal experience myself. The few times I have been behind the wheel of a car with a shot of spray it was awesome. So awesome that I knew I would go broke refilling the bottle so I am going to stay N/A. Good luck man !!!

I'd just go 416 L92 with your AFR 205s and the T56. A lot of people under estimate the AFR 205s. They really are one of the more efficient heads out there. The larger 4.06x bore will help the heads flow even more. I'd just stick a direct port on it and call it a day. I'm glad you mentioned weight reduction as a lot of people overlook the most obvious way of making your car perform better.

So do you think that i could go 416 ls3 w/ my AFR 205s and a 250 DP shot and still run 9.80s consitently? Assume 3100-3200 # race weight and 1.4-1.5 60fts?

Yes! I would save money and go with a 408 but if you have the budget an LS3 416 isn't a bad way to go. We build them both for customers going big boost and n2o.

iron block isn't an option for me, and the budget for the short block is not a big issue if it is reliable and lasts. pm me a quote for a forged 416 short block built for a 300 shot.
Would prefer:
lunati crank
lunati/oliver billet rods (recommend)
Diamond pistons

Also, please feel free to recommend other options that will prolong the life of the block.
