Default LS1 Hot Cam Installed

I just installed the Cam 2 days ago by myself and I am lovin it... I have seen a bunch of talk bout it but it is good enough for me... I bought the Hot Cam and LS6 Spring for $220 from a Friend. Springs were used but Cam was Brand New. And I am no mechanic but it was pretty easy to install with the basic tools... Only tools I needed to rent the the "Crank Pulley Puller", "Spring Compressor Tool" and the Hose that goes in the Spark plug hole... Anyone else have this Setup and what do you all think... I am also on Stock tune. I will post up a Video Clip when I get a chance

Very Different!

the LS6 cam will sound like stock, you'll get more HP and a thumpin exhaust note with the HotCam. i ran the hotcam for several years, i liked it, just wanted more power.

when you installed the springs did you have to change any of the retainers or anything associated with the springs to make it work?

You can use the same retainers and locks.

Its a great little cam. I'm going to try it with a turbo since it has hardly any overlap. good luck with it, I gained 6mph in the 1/4

The person that sold me the Kit gave me the locks and they look the same just new.... What I did notice when I did the swap is that two of my pushrods were bent the thing is that I don't remember from which cylinder they were from.

Oh a here is a clip...

that is an interesting little cam, anyone got any ideas what it would put down with that cam, headers, ory, and ls6 intake? how nitrous friendly is it or have you even sprayed with it yet? and your car sounds pretty good too

Thanks for the complimates... and I still haven't had a chance to spray because my bottle is low and there has been a little drizzle that just wanna leave... When I first ran the car Stock I hit 13.7 I am hoping of going next week to the tracks if the weather allows. Oh and some LT's and ORY are my next mod.

Did it idle when you first fired it up, I just got through swapping a hot cam in mine, and it will not idle at all. It will do ok up around 2000rpm, but won't even come close to idling in park. Now I am wondering if I missed plugging something back in. I figured it would at least somewhat idle.

It actually idled really good from the begining... at first I even thought it was a stock cam because it was real smooth but after it heated up it sounded really good... Did you make sure to line up the dots of the cam and crank? If you didn't it can really mess something up in the motor. Also you might wanna recheck the plugs and wires.

Mine idled pretty good, It would die coming to a stop with the AC on before the tune though.
