confirm you can run the 5.3s with that cam...you may have some close PTV clearances.

darts probably will make more torque down lower, but the 5.3s should make more power up top.

My TSP 5.3's are unmilled and cam in sig is on a 11+2 and they clear fine. I have read threads that the Dart's have a little less clearance but I do not now this to be a fact. I was looking at Darts at one point and a local tuner recommended a cam around the size of mine (can't remember exact specs) so I think you will clear Darts too.

The Dart 205s are a nice head. They were even able to feed my 383 for a while.

Darts are great, Ill admit. But looking at it from a budget standpoint, if you can run 5.3's Id go with them(already did).
Well how much are the darts? I really dont know, but I know the 5.3's are awesome for less than 2000 dollars.
If you have the money to spend though probably darts or AFR's.

Not sure what they cost now, but they were around 1600 a set.

I'd definately spend some time looking at the dyno section of ls1tech. I think you'll find tons of results from both cylinder heads. A quick flow & dyno search will show you some independent numbers for both heads. We typically see 40rwhp gains from PRC 5.3l heads & guarantee their flow numbers! With 40hp gains for $1200, & guaranteed flow numbers it's pretty hard to compare a as cast cylinder head that moves 270cfm to the PRC head.

Here's some recent PRC independent results from a low 230s cam.

I never had dart heads,but do have the TSP stage 2.5 5.3 heads..With a pat g custom cam (232/238 6xx 6xx 111+2 xfi lobes) with a fast 90/90..
With an A4 I put down 435rwp 407rwt..I think those are good numbers for an A4 and budget heads...I think with AFR,trickflos,ETP, I could get more, but at what cost?
yeah on my next build with bigger cubes I will go with an aftermarket castings, but for now I cant complain with what I put down

darts will leave you more room to grow into the heads- as in cleanign up the head. You will probably make more power with the 5.3's right now but if you plan on going any furthur I would get a set of the darts.

If you plan on spraying down the line the darts have a thicker deck and have less chance to push water because of warpage.

So it comes down to what do YOU want from your car.

I went with the Dart 225's as I talked to enough people to feel that I didn't give up much if any low end vs the 205's. I will have plenty of room to grow if my cubes do or I just come into some money to have them milled/ported and a different cam.

I was planning on putting on the heads and being done. This set up is going in a car that weighs less then 2300lbs. so I would be very happy if I could get 400-425 RWHP. Will the 5.3 get me there?

My PRC 5.3 heads make the numbers in my sig, pretty good for budget heads with a 224/228 cam
