Why do you need to pull the rack and pinion?

its not a bad job get the proper diameter aluminum dowels and cut them to about 2 and 1/2 feet. Oil them up and insert, when removing the cam.

FOr the guy whoos just doing the cam swap... 5/16 dowel... like 2 feet long, maybe a bit longer to play it safe. Lube it up before you put it in the block.

I still don't see what this has to do with changing heads/cam. The most you will have to do is pull the intermediate steering shaft off of the gear for clearance.

Yes, the site seems to be down- best bet is just to go to google , type in Ls1howto and cam , and make sure you click the Cached link, it will load up that way just fine.

Gotcha. Good luck, man. If you need some torque specs, I can get them off the GM site for you.

I'm going to revive this thread....

What's going on with LS1howto.com? Have they closed the doors or what? Just tried going onto their website and it's forwarding me to a generic page.
