oil pressure...at idle?

Default oil pressure...at idle?

what should the oil pressure be at idle? i notice mine was between 37-39? right before the line at 40.

i did a search..but mostly oil pressure probelms came up..not what it should be at idle...

thanks...

That sounds fine to me. When you give it some gas it should shoot back up. When you floor it it should definitely go up.

yup. indeed it does...just thought it had to be above 40 at idle...

10psi per thousand rpm is the spec per the General. For performance builds 30-40psi at idle and 55-60psi at WOT is the norm.

If you want more pressure because your **** like me you should get a purolater pure one oil filter and a good oil... get the purolater that is the stock size there is a smaller one people try to sell you... they sell em a t pep boys i think and advanced auto parts.. they are recently redisigned and are badass

If your worried, try moving up to a heavier oil ?.. what are you using now... 5w-30w ? try 10-30 or 10-40.

That is plenty of oil pressure at idle, do not worry about it.


If you get an oil filter that increases your oil pressure you're probably hurting yourself more than helping. Pressure is resistance to flow, you don't want resistance, you want flow. An oil filter that increases pressure over another new filter is a hindrance.

ya mine ran around 40 at stock also if you want upgrade to a new ported and bluprinted LS6 pump mine runs around 50 idol and hits the pressure release valve around 5k RPMs i use mobile 1 and motorkote 5W30 (dont quote me put i think the pressure valve is 75)
