Ls7 fast 102
From what I remember, when the FAST 102 first came out, there was a lot of debate if it made any power. I saw some dyno charts showing it making power, and I saw others where it didn't seem to do much.
I had a chance to bolt on a FAST 102 "loaner". Since I was recently testing headers (THANK YOU J&J Performance), it seemed only natural to keep the testing going.
My combo was as follows:
Stock milled heads .030
Bronze exhaust guides
Solid stainless Ferrea exhaust valves
Ragin Racin punisher cam and complimenting springs
Smith brothers 3/8 pushrods
Morel link bar lifters
Mahle 11.5:1 forged pistons (lighter that the stock ones BTW)
Arp head bolts
Arp 2000 rod bolts
Stock rods reconditioned by Crower
Aviad trap door oil pan insert
Lingenfelter zr1 twin disk clutch
Tick master cylinder
Ported throttle body by Jeremy Formato
Vararam intake
LG 1 7/8 headers
Modded stock mufflers
Yella Terra roller rockers
The only thing we changed was the intake, a box stock unported FAST 102. We werent expecting much really. I though maybe some midrange gains and nothing on top.
Here is what we got:
To make sure the weather was covered, here is the conditions for both runs, not too far off:
GREAT gains to say the least. The FAST 102 made POWER everywhere. Needless to say, the "loaner" intake will be staying, and I'll have to replace it...
Soon, I'll reinstall the LG 1 3/4 headers I have, to make one final comparison!! I predict the same peak power, and huge midrange gains!

I have a very similar 427ci build except I went a little farther on head porting (390 cfm @ .600) and am running 1 7/8 as well. As I was reading your header thread I was wondering about how an intake and maybe a little more flow might work for your combo. It'll be interesting to see if the 1 3/4 take any off the top or add to the mid range. Thx for posting killer.

Is that ls7 intake intake ported? I have a 454 with 285cc ls7 heads and 12.2 comp. I'm using a ported ls7 intake and ported tb. Thinking of going with the 102 intake and tb.

So you used the same TB on both intakes? I saw you mention it was ported - is it otherwise a stock DBW 90mm? If so - good to know these gains were purely with the intake and that the TB did not hold you back.
How did it do with the smaller headers?
