Question Stock LS1/LS6 or a Speedmaster intake?

Tests show the Speedmaster makes more power but for some reason you can get a new one of these for cheaper (MUCH cheaper) than a used LS1 or LS6 intake. That simple fact has prevented me from dropping the hammer on either of them. Just what it is about this intake that no one likes them and would rather have an ugly stock plastic intake than a nice aluminum piece?

There were issues with the gaskets and the bottom plate leaking. The general consensus is that the BBK intake is better. I put the BBK on my LS1 and it's a nice quality piece. I smoothed the runners on one side but the other side looked nearly perfect.

Well for more than double the price of the Speedmaster, I could only hope it would be a better piece. I ordered the Speedmaster from Jegs. If it's a POS, I'll just send it back.

Well the Speedmaster is on backorder for another month apparently. I cancelled it and went with the Dorman LS6 reproduction.

Why not order it somewhere else? JEGS is definitely not the cheapest place to get one.

At $227 shipped, it most certainly is the cheapest. Hell, it's even more expensive on ebay.

Don't most people not like the BBK intake because metal = heatsoak? That's what I remember reading anyway. If you're balling on a budget i'd probably get that new Dorman LS6 intake with the 90mm throttle opening.
