Default Introducing The All New PRC Spring Kit

After nearly a year of development & tweaking we're proud to announce that the all new Precision Race Components LSx spring kit is now available!

This valve spring is the result of countless hours of testing and comparing to both the previous versions of our springs along with several other competitors valve springs. (some of which cost over $500 per set)

The goal was to develop a valve spring that offers increased pressures & lift capacity for the newer more aggressive LS camshafts that are currently being built.

While the previous version LS spring that PRC & so many of our competitors have used for years is a great spring, it's simply a several year old design that wasn't built specifically for the camshafts being produced today.

A few of the goals we wanted to accomplish were:
Increased Pressures
Increased Lift Capacities
Much Longer Spring Life
Higher RPM Stability

The new PRC spring kit is built out of a EHT Chrome Silicon with special processing that helps to provide us a spring life that testing has shown to be well over 3 times the life of any LS spring currently on the market! Testing has shown that after 20,000,000 cycles this new valve spring lost 1% pressure @ the seat & open!!

The new spring checks:
1.800" = 161lbs
1.150" = 472lbs

The spring coil binds below 1.080" allowing for nice lift capability!!

The EHT Chrome Silicon valve spring material allows for well over 3 times the life of our previous double spring.

Inner & outer springs who's individual & combined harmonics were carefully studied in a effort to create a spring who's harmonics allow for heavier after market rockers as well as much higher rpm ranges while maintaining valve-train control!!

While the valve spring is designed for hyd. applications, we recently tested a set of the springs installed on a 416ci LSx using PRC 237cc heads & a .708" lift solid roller camshaft. While this combo through the FAST intake doesn't show off the high rpm abilities of this new valve spring, it clearly shows that the spring can easily handle some pretty wild applications. I have dyno sheets of the spring controlling the .708" lift spring on a 2.100" stainless valve well past 7400rpm. While this is well out of the range of intended use, it shows how truly versatile this valve spring is.

The truly beautiful thing about this new spring package is that at $350 a set they're only slightly more expensive than the standard PRC double spring, and over $200 a set less than it's nearest competitor that supposedly uses the same material! For basically $75 more than the current PRC spring you get a spring capable of running 2-3 times the life of the previous gold/platinum valve spring!!!

In a effort to offer the most complete line of products for our customers, we will continue to offer the standard PRC Platinum Spring Kit for budget minded customers. We're also currently working on a beehive single spring that should be ready to go in the next couple of months!

Now for the pics & one of the dyno sheets from the solid cammed 416 with PRC 237 cylinder heads!

Jon sold me a set today. How much longevity testing was done as far as cycles on the spring? Can your vendor simulate hours of running at 7000rpm in order to give an idea of MTTF for these?

What installed height were you using with that .708 cam? Even accounting for valve lash, you'd be running very close to coil bind with a 1.800 installed height.

Also, will the kit install at 1.800 in a stock head? One of the issues with the Patriot Golds is that they install at more like 1.750 in a stock head, meaning that you have to cut the spring pockets in order to use the highest lift cams.

Crap 71 I ran them within .040 easily of coil bind. I ran them in a worst case situation just for something to do. I don't want anyone to reproduce this testing, it's way over the top, but it was good for our data. After all the spintron & endurance testing this spring went through, I thought it would be something to try while the 417 was on the engine dyno.

It was installed at 1.800. They kit will install at 1.800 on the stock head. No machining of the spring pocket is required.

No sir, you cannot use the old style retainer with this new spring. The retainers are specific fit to the springs.

How much do the springs weigh with retainers? Would this be overkill for a nitrous 347 spinning to 7200?

We have been testing them on stock rocker/lifter combos extensively. We have had no problems at all.

Still trying to get time to get away from the phones for an accurate weigh in.
