The only real difference is that the LS2 is lighter (aluminum vs iron) and the LQ4 has dished (6.7cc) pistons. If the weight doesn't matter, the iron is probably stronger and less prone to expansion and contraction from heat. It could be better suited for a big spray or blower.

You would need to mill the heads to get the compression back up with the LQ4 or replace the pistons.

Wiring an sensor locations from LS1 can would be easier since the LQ4 is a drop in for harness locations I believe, the LS2 has different knock and cam sensor locations.

Unless you plan on building a super highperformance engine, the aluminum ls2 block will hold up fine. I love my LS2. Superb engine

are the ls1 and the ls2 sensors in the same place or will you need a cam and crank sensor relocation kit.

You will haft to move the knock sensors to the side of the block behind the motor mounts and the cam sensor is move to the LS2 timing cover and oil pressure sensor is moved to the top of the LS2 valley cover. the rest is the same as the LS1. You can get adapter harnesses for the knock sensors and the cam sensor and you will need a LS2 timing chain cam sprocket
