Default Ls7 Issues with dropping valves?

Just picked up a ls7 and I've been hearing alot lately about them dropping valves? Anyone else heard about this? Would a better set of springs help out?

I know the L92 had a bit of an issue. Dealer here in town has done four of them. Something about bad locks causing the issue. This is how I ended up with my L92 for $300!

Seen it happen. Hardened cap came off of the valve tip, titanium wore away, and voila....

**Notice in this pic that the valve is open...it's actually stuck that way**

Cap was found in the lifter retainer tray and the lifter's c-clip was in the oil pan.

Ouch!!!! One of the main reason I went with my AFR's and REV valves!
So what if I'm 11 cubes short.

Sad to see that damage man!

For that cap to get out......a little valve float/valvetrain seperation?

And are they stock springs?

No, those are aftermarket dual springs, Comp's I think. Springs still had good pressure when they came off, not 100% sure what caused it. I'd bet valve float though.

The photo of the broken spring that I posted was of a stock spring that broke when the car was traveling at only 35 miles an hour..broken spring, dropped the valve and ruined the bore of one cylinder ... GM replaced the engine...
