Default LY6 for 67 camaro, couple questions??

Ok, got a LY6 coming from a wrecker, low miles:-) 454 BBC coming out. do all LY6 have VVT? do any LY6 code engines have DOD?. I dont want to go to Efi just yet, so I will run a vic jr/MSD/750carb on the stock engine, and toss in a cam.
My main concerns are setting it up not to use the VVT. I have read that a new front cover, and top cam gear is all that is needed to bolt in a perf cam. is this correct? can the original front cover be used if oil passages are tapped and plugged?
How much can the L92 heads be milled?
I have a Tko600 to go behind it, seems like just a different pilot bearing is needed for it to work? Any advice on bolting it to the LY6 is apreciated too.

Yes, the LY6 is a Gen IV block and does have provisions for DOD.... I'm pretty sure you will be able to use it for what you want though. I debated using this block in my 2007 C6 Build (Non DOD).

From what I've seen, most guys with comparable builds to what you want to do use the Gen III LQ4 or LQ9 blocks, which are basically the same as the LY6 but without the DOD provisions.

thanks for the reply. so does that mean that ALL LY6 code engines have the DOD? because I want to steer clear of that(DOD), but I want the L92 heads that come on theese things. If they all have DOD I will get an earlier LQ4 6.0, and buy new L92 heads.

From what I can tell, the LY6 block has the DOD provisions, but not all GM trucks that utilize that block have DOD.... I may be wrong though.
If I was you, I would go with the LQ4/9 with a set of L92's and call it a day. I think those blocks are better suited for what you want to do.

My LY6 have VTT and dont have DOD. I think LY6 only have VVT an no DOD install, but i'm not sure. You can see it if you remove the intake.

Your right, you need LS2 front cover, 3 bolt 4X cam gear. I mill my L92 .030" to reach 10:1 of compression.
