Default Lsx ls3 head vs l92 head

It seems to me that the Lsx ls3 head might be a better choice then the standard l92 head. Sure from a price point the l92's can't be beat but they have some limitations to them as well. This lsx ls3 head to be very nice with the capability to flow over 400 cfm and extra thick deck so you can mill a litile bit. Has anyone used them. I think Iam going to put them on my ls2.

They look nice and they are cheaper then trickflow/afr plus you dont have to buy aftermarket rocker arms.

I am pretty sure they will not flow 400cfm but they are a really nice head. They have hollow intake and sodium filled exhaust valves. They are also 6 bolt heads which is nice. This was my first choice for heads but saw that the lsx-ls9 head has been released which comes with titanium intake valves. You really can't go wrong with the lsx style heads.

While they are as good of a head as any ls3 head-they are really no better. The casting is pretty much a duplicate of a std ls3 head but with 6 bolt bosses.

well my main problem with the l92 head is that I dont want to loose any compression. If I mill them that kills my ptv. I am not into flycutting. From the looks of these I can mill and keep my stock compression and not flycut.

From what I have been told the LSX style heads have a little more meat to them for porting, and they have 6 bolt boses. They are perfect for the budget minded.

yes they will bolt up but I think the main benefit from these heads is the 6 bolt design. If you are not going to use the 6 bolts then a standard ls3 head would probably be better for your application in my opinion.

If you are worried about deck thickness on an ls head you must be running 1200+ at the wheels. I had no problems with my l92 heads making 800+ at the wheels.

Wait for the trickflow ls3 head that is coming out this year. It will out do any of the stock ported heads out. From what I have been told,it is a nasty head.
