Default Tainted's 408 240SX Build

So I thought it was time for me to make a build thread for my car.

Everything from the swap, to building the engine, file fitting rings etc is done by myself.
Im still in the process of collecting all the parts I need, but I've got the bottom end completed.

Also, I gotta brag about what a STEAL I got this whole thing for. When I was in NC for my grandpas funeral, one of his friends asked if I was interested in a 6.0 motor, and of course I said yes.
Low and behold, it was an iron block already bored .030 over, machine work completed with cam bearings installed, just unassembled. The engine came as a "package, all or nothing" this included the motor, bearings, rings, oil pump, timing chain, 317, 243, AND 799 heads, carb style intake with elbow, fuel rails, TFS 120lb injectors, Flywheel, roller rockers, MS3 camshaft, TSP .650 springs, TSP 7.4 pushrods, a truck oil pan and windage tray, and lastly the valley, and front and rear covers. Picked up the whole thing for... $2600 After I was done selling off all the things I didnt want for my build, I ended up at less than $400 for my entire shortblock I think I made out better than a dog with two dicks!

So heres a short run down of my build and what I will be using.

1996 Nissan 240SX
Infiniti Q45 LSD 3.54
T56 6 speed

408 iron block 11:5:1
-10cc dish & coated JE pistons
Eagle 6.125 H beams
Eagle 4" stroker crank

Texas Speed AFTERMARKET LS3 260cc Heads, hollow stem valves, .675 springs
Patrick G custom spec'd cam
Brian Tooley SLR lifters
Cloyes timing chain
High pressure oil pump
Factory Ls3 rockers with Trunion upgrade
FAST 102 intake 92mm Throttle body

File fitting rings

pics from when I brought it home. Picked it up for $3000, california title, no rust. has a few dings and dents and the dash pad has the infamous crack, but the car still runs excellent. im going for the sleeper look so I dont mind the dings and dents, it makes it even better when I slaughter someone

Rose was not happy about the fact she couldnt fit to go for a ride

Damn that stupid *** god damn barbell plug straight to hell.

The only problem I had so far was the bearings. I wish the auto world would make up its ******* mind on the wishy washy "undersize, oversize, and thinner" terminology with the bearings. Huge pain in the *** and everyone I talked with contradicted what the last person said was correct.

KCS if you come across this thread thank you again for pointing me in the right direction!

Looks like a fun build. I've been thinking of starting on a 240 build myself. Is it a fairly expensive process to drop an LS in a 240?

compared to other cars, no.

I got the car for 3k, the swap kit is $2800, then add about another $1000 for misc things like a radiator and intake piping etc. Then add in your engine and tranny, that can be from dirt cheap to stupid expensive.

Got my heads today!

First impression, NICE! Heavy, solid, good quality. The CNC work looks prestine the assembly looks flawless, if they perform as well as they look I'll not feel to bad about dropping $2500!

These are the 260cc version, 2.185 intake 1.60 exhaust valves, hollow stem, stainless steel.
Intake runner is 260cc, Exhaust is 90cc
Intake valve weight (hollow stem) is 97 grams, solid stem are 118g, Exhaust valve is 92g
13 degree splayed valve angle
61cc chamber

I have the same vlsd in my 280 it holds the power nicely.. it just started to leak a bit so i hope you went through yours and changed the seals before you bolted it up.

Just be sure and go through it, they are prone to leak
