Default LS3 build

Just thought I'd share some pics of my new engine I've been piecing together over the last few months.

LS3 standard short engine
24x reluctor wheel swap
Comp 235/243@113 camshaft
Morel 5206 lifters
Mast Motorsport LS3 Small Bore Heads shaved 30thou (from my previous ls1 engine)
Felpro mls .041 gaskets
Arp head bolts
Approx 12.7 compression
Manley 8.025 3/8 pushrods
Jesel 1.7 rockers
Standard LS3 inlet (I do have a starr street warrior inlet to try later)
Fast 85lb injectors for E85

Should be able to fire it up for the first time in a few hours

Looking forward to this build in particular. Why? Those Mast Heads...small bore...small ccs...i think they would be best on ls3 over medium bore or trick flow or any cnc ls3 heads. I think me and you thinking along the same lines...ignore the small bore decription...get great flowing ls3 rectangular heads with cathedral size ccs...both of best worlds...produce high compression, power and torque.

Except i cant afford them to test out like you but glad someone like you is trying. Lol.

Im excited to see how this works out. Good luck, Rob

I definitely want to see how this turns out. I'm going to build a 402 with LS7 internals, sans pistons, and these were actually my first choice.

Curious if they opened the combustion chamber at all?

All those nice trick parts in the top end and not a dime on new/pistons/rods? Not the way I spend my $$$ on builds? Or am I seeing a spare block in the background and you do actually have a good set of forged rods/pistons going in your build.....what are the cam specs for int/exh lobe seperation and valve lift? Just wondering.....trying to build a cheap LS3 525HP motor ran me into big piston to valve clearance problems on my Corvette LS3 build.

The stock LS3 is actually a good foundation for a naturally aspirated engine. No need for trick parts when the stock parts are up to the task. The only thing I would do to the short block is ARP rod bolts.

Sorry no updates yet, the heads are actually off atm, chasing an issue with lifters/pushrods at present which turns out to needing my exhaust valves changed. I bent a couple slightly over revving my original ls1 and just slightly touching pistons. They are on their way over from USA to here.

It's also terrible weather here atm. Taking the opportunity to get my headers chrome ceramic coated. Should be back together next week. Then I'll get it tuned on this new 'race e85' we have on pump now. The same fuel supplying our V8 Supercars over here.

These stock engines are great, why build them when I have no real need for it just yet, it's just a street car with max revs of 7000.

Cam is a shelf comp cam, 235/243 @113 .621 .624 it fits easily, previous cam was a 243/250@109

Keep us posted SIG, I'm curious to see how well it does. I almost bought the same cam Tooley had it on sale for 250 I believe awhile back. Still haven't finished setting my mast ls3's up on my ls1, everything is on hold with my newborn daughter. Hopefully in the next couple months I should/better have some results. Goodluck
