Default LS2 heads on LS1

is there any porting/polishing i can do as an amateur to get the most out of these heads? i know you don't want to try an all out port and polish job unless you know what you're doing. also what about milling? setup will be ls2 heads, pac springs, and fm14 cam. thanks!

The LS2 heads are basically the same 243 heads that almost every CNC shop is using as a foundation for LS1 high flow heads. In stock form, they're worth 20-25 rwhp over an LS1 head. With hand porting and milling, you can pick up another 10-20 rwhp depending on your skill level. Although they respond well to porting, they're actually quite good in stock form.

If your skill level is 0, your best advice would be to mill them some to raise compression and leave them unported. Porting in the wrong direction can hurt more than help. Most of the flow gains are in the valve job and throat/bowl area and requires special tools. Hogging out the port runner will hurt more than help.

I have a set of 243's (LS2) heads just laying around with valves after I installed L92 heads.
Any idea if they have any value too anyone doing mods to their heads so as to have them all built till tear down time for less down time. Low miles less then 8k on them. Not trying to jack the thread just save someone down time on a head build. LOL
