Default rear main seal help

i built a forged stroked ls3 for my blown 05 vette. problem is rear main seal is leaking(second time). i have the complete gm j tool kit for these motors so i am using the rear cover install tool and the rear main seal installer tool as well. i thought i had it fixed as it started and ran with no leaks but when we came back from eating to finish it up there was a little puddle on the floor. so i started it agian and it was dripping of course.....sounded bad *** though...open lg headers...lol... any way is there a trick or somthing to this

what crank are you using?

I have heard of a few Eagle cranks having issues with the rear crank plug (auto install) I think "Padre" on LS1GTO had his out 3 or 4 times with oil leak issues....

Man those seals work really well, I don't even use the tool to install. I wonder if the crank plug is bad. There is a plug inside the crank on the factory crank, don't know about the aftermarket strokers.

I have heard of problems from some other engine builders about Eagle's cranks, concerning the rear crank flange. One of which is that it's not 90* perpendicular to the crankshaft's centerline.

Then again, he may just need to put a little silicone around the seal before he installs it in the rear cover.

I've replaced them without the tool too. Never had a problem.

Make sure you'e got enough crankcase venting. Too much pressure will blow oil past the seal.

Tie the vc's together and run a line to a catch can with a breather.

gm has revised the rear main seal so the lip leans towards the clutch...i assume so people with out the proper tool can install with out issues. i have a blower and oil was getting past the seal. so we put it out backwards...with the lip leaning towards the crank and no leaks...as per codexxxx mentioned trying on here
