AFR 205s on lsx 454??

Question AFR 205s on lsx 454??

Am not in a position currently to buy a new shortblock, but I am looking at my next stage of mods. I am wanting to go with a high compression (11.5:1) NA engine, but have a 250-350 DP shot (possibly two stages).
I currently have AFR 205s. Was wondering how much they would choke a lsx 454?

I figured I could send them to Tony mamo for porting, but would that be enough? Would it be better to try and sell the set i have and go for the new AFR 225s or a set of ETPs? Thanks in advance.

They would make alot of torque down low and peak really early.

I would sell them and buy some bigger heads. ET 245 or bigger or ls7 heads or tf 235's or bigger or T4P Darts....

Yea? That is sort of what i was thinking.

How much benifit would the extra torque be on the lsx 454? It seems that this would only cause traction issues. Also, doesnt ETP have a 6-bolt head? I was thinking this would be benificial for a large N2O shot (prevent pushing water/lifting heads).

AFR's carry good re-sale value. You be leaving a lot on the table with those on top of a 454. Get the tune right and you wont be lifting heads.

personally i wouldnt do it because you would be sacrificing lots of power in doing so and a better suited pair of heads will give u a lot better gains

You should ask Tony when is the new AFR 235 will be out??

You'll be killing the 454ci with those heads dont do it.

AFR 205's....you'll basically have a 408ci engine running under your hood, not a 454ci.

Tony can open them up to more than 225 so you should ask him what he would do. TEA stage three AFR heads flow 347 cfm and they are the same casting as the 205 all the afr use the same casting so the material is there it just needs to be removed.
