1985 Monte Carlo SS roller
I have an opportunity to pick up a 1985 Monte Carlo SS ("G" Body?) without motor and tranny.
What would be a powertrain/tranny combination.. headers, mounts, etc.
How about an LSx motor/tranny??

You could easily go GTO/CTS-V with an LS2+auto. Drive shaft and trans mount shoudl drop right in stock location and taking the 150lbs off of the front end(compared to iron Gen1 SBC) of that long wheel base will go a long way towards making it drive and perform much much better. Engine will go in with some perch offsets, available from a ton of places. Hit up American Racing Headers for the exhaust.
The massive underhood also leaves ample space for anytype of turbo set up that might strike your fancy

DO IT! I'm dropping a 5.3 with a T-76 in my 88'. Truck engines can be picked up cheap (got mine for $300) and so many companies make the wiring harness now, there getting very reasonable. Very cool project.
