Best 60' on 2.73 gears?
What's the best 60' that was attained on 2.73 gears? I'm just trying to compare my lowly 2.2 60's to something. The best I have EVER achived with BFG drag radials is a 1.998 60'.

I am stock motored, stock suspension, yanked the front sway bar off, on 27" Hoosiers Ive pulled a 1.76 on the motor, and a 1.59 on a 150 shot with the 2.73's. I just got my new rearend in (8.8) with a 3.73 gear. I am hoping to blow those 60's out of the water tonight if the rain holds off!

Re: Best 60' on 2.73 gears?
I cut a 1.92 in my old 98 A4 with street tires an good track prep. Usually, 2.0 on street tires and stock converter. I smoke the sh$% out of the tires before staging and stalled to 1600 RPM's. I found that 2.73 are harder to smoke. Some of the guys with higher gears had to leave at a lower RPM using a stock set up.
Finally, don't swap gears. I've have heard horror stories about guys getting zero gains from a gear swap. If you want to lower your 60 ft buy a Vig 2800 or 3200 TC and some ET streets. I see guys running 1.5 to 1.7 60 ft with this set up.

I'm running a Yank 2800/3.0 now but it did nothing to lower my 60's. I just didn't think i was spinning but I may have been and didn't realize I was.

Re: Best 60' on 2.73 gears?
i asked elsewhere. But 3000/3200/3500 ? i'm doing alot of city driving, want the benefits of a stall. is choosing 3500 stall with a 2.73 rear gonna be a pita driving in the streets?
I was looking at the TCI model since its price seems good. I don't plan to track alot (lack of time), but ya never know what you mind find on the streets.
I don't want a car that has to chirp em every time i have to move 20 feet..

With my 2800, you really can't even tell it's there IMHO. And it MAY be for sale soon if I can gather the cash to get my race converter!

A converter is only good if you can hook. You need to run ET Streets with a converter.

I cut 1.74's on motor and a 1.54 on 150 shot. Vig 3600, STOCK suspension, macs w/ ory, and a lid on 26x10.5/16 et streets. Best 1/8th mile 6.98.
Edit: I kind of forgot about the 224/224 112 cam...I'm so used to it that it seems like its not there LOL

Try 18 to 20lbs and heat them until you see smoke in your rear view mirror. You'll get your good 60'.
