430 RWHP w/228/224 cam. Should I go bigger?
I recently purchased a motor w/GTP stg2 heads, 228/224 cam Yella terra rockers, 918 springs,bolt-ons, etc...that put out 430rwhp,400tq. As long as the motor is out, should I go to a bigger cam? The car is my daily driver that sees mostly highway miles, and maybe three or four trips to the track a year. I see stock headed cars with bigger cams put down 400rwhp+ easy, and with the GTP's, I just wonder if im a little under cammed What do you guys think? Any cam suggestions with this setup. The car is a M6.Thanks

I'd say leave in there. You might get 5-10 more hp from another cam but you could easily run low 11's with the power you already have.

In a SS vert w/4.10s, the motor went 12.20 at 118 with terrible traction. The only thing different is it is going into my 98ws6 with 3.42s, true duals, and 315 Nittos. I think with the stock gear, it should still be able to run 11's, I hope.

I'd stay with the cam you have. That's not a small cam, IMO. You stand to gain very little by going bigger.
And 430 RWHP is NOTHING to sneeze at! It's making some VERY nice power. Don't get caught up in the dyno numbers game. The same car could visit several different dynos on several different days and see a fairly wide range of numbers.

Bigger isn't always better. Sound like you are making mor than respectable power. I'd stay on ths hand. Whatever you choose though, good luck

Jesse,
Keep the 228/224. save your $$$ for a forged lower-end. than go with direct port 200 shot.
Thanks for being cool on the delay...

well i am gonna say what everyone else has said. i assume you dynoed at RMS and it is a solid realistic dyno (and that operator isnt too shady ) but i dont htink you will gain that much in real world racing or street stuff. now if you are looking for every last bit of power, sure go for it. but there will be a bit decrease in idle quality and probably make about 10 rwhp max more. that cam you have is very strong. i have seen many of Mark's cars on the street/kcir. they MOVE. i have the 230/230 cam by the way (i was the original customer) and i still say stick with what you got. if you want to go faster or make more power, there are ways to do it and keep your cam. also dont pay attention to these huge dyno cars on the net. you know how many totally stock ls1 headed cars have made 400 rwhp in KC dynos? exactly. i dont know if mine is the highest stock headed dyno, but it was for a while, when i made 385 rwhp through my fat moser rear. it doesnt matter, your car will haul it!
