Default Procharger tensioner bearing seizing!

I have a 98 Camaro running a F-1 Procharger. After the install at about 3k miles the belt tensioner seized. OK so I ordered a replacement from Procharger installed it and thought everything was OK. 5500 miles later... same thing, the tensioner seized again. I've had all the work done at a very good shop who installs allot of blowers. He prefers Vortech and says it’s a procharger quality issue. Any ideas what could cause this? Has anybody else seen any problems with Prochargers belt tensioners? I really like the F1 Procharger but I need this thing to be reliable because it's a daily driver.

Thanks

You need to contact Bob at Exotic Performance Plus.com They sell and install more ProChargers than anyone in North America.

Off topic question but do you get any belt slip with the F1?

No, not much at all. After 5000 miles I had very little belt dust. This thing work very well other than the belt tensioner issue.

Interesting. Have you considered switching to the SDCE tensioner setup?

We don't typically see problems like this very often. In your case since the car is driven daily you are probably going to run into this much sooner than most people do with an F1 blower on an F Body. The ProCharger GTO and Corvette bracket design is superior to the F Body system, and the SDCE tensioner assembly would probably take care of your problem, as the belt would not have to be kept nearly as tight. This is the first I've heard of the SDCE tensioner setup. I look into it. Is there a specific name or model I should look for?

Thanks for the help Dan and Bob.

The SDCE setup works great but is expensive.

I've had the issue happen as well. But on a 12-rib, D1sc, Lt1 car. I got some bearings from a local bearing supplier (truck apps mostly) and have not had the problem again.
