Default Painting wheels black?

My t/a is black itself.

So i have the same wheels that are in the picture. I saw a car with them painted black and the lip was still "polished" i thought it looked pretty good. I figure it would help my wheels look better untill i found some 5spokes.

What are my wheel paint options?

I wanted to paint my wheels black also. I brought it to a body shop and they told me that they wont paint them. There are some companies that will though. The one I went too told me they wouldnt do it because when the tire is mounted, 9 times out of 10 the mounting place will scrape the paint off the lip putting on the casing. Then once the tire is on the car the heat of braking along with exposure to rain water will cause the paint to bubble and crack off. Then he went out as far and rocks and crap that hit it will damage the paint. Long story short, if you are going to get your wheels painted.....make sure the company will guarantee thier work and product.

Well if i could get away with it would be my craftsmanship. But i think im better off just leaving them alone.

what would you recommend I do with my stockers. The clear is peeling and they look like crap. I was gonna paint them, but if I can get them to look like they came from the factory again I would.

Ebay......I picked up 2 stock chromes for my V-6 for $100 plus shipping. I'm sure its almost cheaper to buy those then to attempt to have them re-chromed or painted.

you can find wheel paint that will hold up to the heat and dust of braking but still a rock at 70 will chip it and tire replacement will reck the lip..... You can get them powder coated but $$$$.

I painted my wheels that I used during last winter.

Here is my project thread...

https://ls1tech.com/forums/wheels-ti...wheels-ta.html

They held up great through the winter and getting different tires mounted.

Painted them both with generic cheap paint and clear coat-i re do them when i change my tires so there's no worries about the tire mounting process scratching the paint-even if they dont scratch the paint, the removal/addition of wheel weights will leave unpainted areas so i find my way easier, cheaper, and quicker. Best luck if you haven't already done them.

Sometimes it turns out good, other times it looks like ****. I would plastidip them, then use they're gloss spray just to see how you like it.

Sounds like the shop did not want to do it period. How many Guys out there have billet wheels or powder coated wheels for that matter and nothing is scraped on mounting or dismounting a tire? Heat from braking? Not unless you're hot lapping a circle track somewhere. Exposure to rain water? Umm, what? The front end of your car takes the brunt of rain, sand, rocks, bugs and seems to wear pretty good with good quality paint. Unless somebody gets stoopid with an air gun, not much is gonna happen on the wheel. If the above was true my billet wheels would look like *** from being beat up, ten years later.

I'd paint the centre cap and inside pockets black and leave the rest as silver. Plastidip should work well; if you don't like the results you can peel off. Plastidip is a cheap solution

Yeah, those wheels aren't worth the time it would take to paint them.
