?'s for you blown ls1 guys
My buddy has a 1998 trans am with a vortech supercharger, intercooler longtubes, borla exhaust yank 3600 stall 373 gears. My question is when we went to the 8th mile this past summer all he could get out of it was an 8.56@84 mph.. With his mods he should be at least 420 rwhp i would think and he hooked up good at the strip so traction wasnt an issue. We were wondering what his estimated 8th mile times would be and if you think a bad tune could hurt him that bad
thanks Nick

Your ET computed from your vehicle ET of 8.56 seconds is 13.40 seconds in Quarter Mile.
I would check:
1) Belt slippage. Lots of slippage = no boost.
2) Shift points. Centrifrugal blowers like rpms. I'd verify shift points. If it was my car I'd be running at least LS6 springs, or better than that, so I could spin the car to 6500. With stock springs and a high mile car you might only be good to 6000 rpms at the most. Beefier springs are a no brainer.
3) Tune. Too fat?
He should be shooting for high 11's at stock weight and assuming 8 psi aftercooled.

Yea something is very wrong then. The car has 30000 miles so its not like its high mileage.. I think its in the tune but wow theres alot left in it when he first bought the car (he bought it with all the parts on it already except the convertor) i thought it would be a mid 11 second car and i still feel it should be..
