Default what valve spring is everyone running with the L92

heads and stock valves? i would like to go with the YT rockers and i've heard they were heavier on the tip so considering the stock valve weight and heavier tip. i would think i may need something better than the patriot .650 springs. i don't have the extreme's. also where to buy and what's the cost of the springs?

I use the Extreme's, if you already have the standard Patriot's it is like $150 to upgrade to the Extreme springs.

Stock rockers, LS3 valves, PSI 1511s and custom lightwt steel retainers.
There is no good reason reason to put double springs on these IMO. Ti retainers get eaten buy the super hard springs.

After some miles, take off spring and look at the retainer. It is not that they are not serviceable but they are likely worn by the spring. Where did that worn Ti go? The newer springs are hard coated and Ti is the relatively soft default lightweight retainer material.

So, should I replace my TI retainers on my 921's? I have the heads sent off right now due to a TC break and was just planning on replacing the springs and re-using everything else(seats, locks, seals, retainers). Those retainers have 8k miles on them.

Is the retainer worn where the spring sits?

Patriot Extremes and you are good to go.

Comp 921 if you are ultra fussy about springs and don't mind paying the premium price.

The annoying thing about the Comp 921 kit (to me at least) is that they do not come with the keepers. Certainly not a big deal if you know about it a head of time as stock keepers are not expensive, but for the price of the Comp 921 kit, for the kit to not be 100% complete is a bit of a disappointment.

The Patriot Extremes come with keepers (unlike the Comp 921 kit) and the Patriot Extremes do not use stock keepers and instead come with oversized, much beefier ones.

The bases that come with the Patriot Extreme also fit the 243 head valve stems a bit better. The Comp 921 bases had the tiniest bit of play on the 243 heads. I compared them back and forth a few times to make sure it was not my imagination.

I think the Patriot Extreme kit also had spares of a few items...definitely a nice touch.

PAC 1521's here. Probably the best drop in spring.
