What's the quickest/cheapest for 12s?
Ok, I've run a 13.15 But I want a 12 second car and I want to do it cheap.
I've got $400 right now, but I don't want to spend it all on the car. What can I do for cheap BESIDES weight reduction, that can get me a 12?
Mods:
3.42s
MADZ tune
OEM ramair
LPPs--->open ORY
3200 stall
DRs on stock 93TA rims.
I've got a cooler thermostat ready to go in (currently still stock) and I haven't done the bypass either.
I'm wondering if skinnes can get me a lot closer, but they will go over my cost. I also am wondering if my suspension (stock) is allowing too much squat and if some mods back there might net some gains.
Basically what would you do for cheap to hit 12s from where I am?

Maybe a set of roller rockers. You can probably pick up a used set for $150 or so, then some $50 LT4 springs.
You should already be in the 12's though, what kind of 60' times are you pulling? and MPH?

My 60' is 1.82 and 102.6mph @ 1700' DA. I'm in AZ, so I am slightly behind other parts of the country.
For my valvetrain setup I'd have to get hardened pushrods and guideplates too as I'd go NSA.

This I also lump into the do it once do it right category. I will not "upgrade" a 10 bolt.
This doesn't include the safety stuff, and I'm not blowing my motor just to hit 12s when I can potentially do it cheaper and safer.
If/when I do nitrous it'll be with a proper setup.

i HIGHLY disagree with the above statement. i spray a 175 shot on a BONE STOCK bottom end lt1. i have been spraying for about 3 years. as long as you do it right, you will have no problem. meaning, run at least 100 octane when you spray more than 100 shot. also, pull about 8 degrees of timing out of the top end. BUT, if you spray a 100 or less, to be SAFE, just run 100 octane. AND, there is a brand new lt1 wet efi kit 75-150 for 340$ WITH bottle. check it out....

A harder launch - how was your sixty foot time?
I'd say save the money and do a cam/roller rocker swap when you have enough saved up. If you buy used parts, you're actually pretty close to having enough.
I thought I was the only one who thought like that.

Used nitrous kit and be done with it... Way back when my car was running and stock...lol I was running 14.0 - 14.2 bone stock 6spd. Bought a used TNT wet kit.(350.00) at the time. Slapped it on, went to the track and pulled constant 12.4 - 12.5. with a best of 12.24 all on a 75 shot.
