427 stroker with big single turbo??
#2
Which block are u thinking about using? From what I've heard and read is that the LS3 427 is strickly for N/A and can't be spun that hard. I would go with an LS7 or even an LSX depending on how much boost you are wanting to run. The LS7 and LSX are pretty much the same price from TSP, the LSX being for high boost.

What are wanting to do? How much power do you want to make? Heads? Cam? What is your budget (which I hope since you are wanting to build a 427 w a 101 your budget is pretty much open) What tranny do you plan on using? What rear end? Suspension?

Yeah he does! Killer motor that will cost you about 1/2 of what it would if you built it from scratch. He see's teh sticker price on your motor Major, and how he reacts will give us good clue on how serioous he is! Man I wish I had that kind of money to throw at your motor! My wife would go bonkers She's already T'd off about my lowly 414" (she doesn't know about my other build yet)
Good luck with your sale..hope you get that bad boy moved. Sorry you had tranny issues at the shootout, bummer!

Some advice: Go to school, get a well paying job, save some more money, then try again. If you want a start, get Major's motor, like said before it will save you a TON of money, and its inline with what you need to make the kind of power you're talking about. Otherwise, shoot for something a little closer to this atmosphere.

I don't do alot of FI stuff, more of a N/A guy, but the 37X combos are hard to beat to. The 42X stuff works awesome to. I havent been real impressed with to many 383 FI or N/A combos personally. Just do your reseach and talk to the right people. Paul major would be one of them, along with countless others.

What most have done is to start with heads/cam, headers & bolt-ons. $3,000 for parts, another $400 or so for a tune. ~$1,000 for labor unless you do it yourself. You'll have a 500 hp car that will be somewhat reliable if you don't flog it constantly. It will be plenty fun, and you can get by with the stock fuel pump, injectors, clutch (for a while), and rear end (if you're nice to it...!).
Fyi... a 427 turbo will require a different motor completely from the LS1. Can't bore/stroke an LS1 to 427 ci. Once you get the long block (~$10k) plus matching heads & intake, then injectors, fuel pump, clutch/flywheel, tranny and rear end that can handle it, and the headers, MAF, lid, etc. to support it, you're looking at another $10k. Then you've got the turbo and all the plumbing, dunno what that runs ($$$)... this is a bare minimum $30k project if you already have the car. And it will be a nightmare to keep from breaking stuff. 427 turbo, wow, on second thought my price quotes were probably too low... components would have to be ultra heavy duty (and expensive) just to stay together.
If you want to go fast cheap, get an iron block 408 and spray it. You'll still need a new rear end, clutch/flywheel, fuel system, etc., but the long block will be cheaper and nitrous is WAY cheaper than going turbo.

I won't speak for Major, but I can give you an idea if you wanted to make 1500HP with 4xx+ cubes and a 101 MM turbo, plan on a price tag of about:
$50K if you can do some of the leg work yourself.
And since you just finished High School, is it safe to assume that you don't have teh type of money around, and that is why the guys are actually being nice to you in saying, "just start out a little smaller"
