A. Valve Springs:
Purpose: Keep the valve in control.
Benefit of Upgrading: Upgrading the valve springs is ABSOLUTELY mandatory in doing a cam swap. The stock valve springs CANNOT handle any more lift or RPM than the stock cam puts out as well as a cam with a more aggressive lobe design.
Required: YES.
Popular Choices: Crane Dual Spring Kit 10308-1 (includes locks, retainers, shims), PAC or Comp Cams Beehive Kits (1218 PAC or 26918 Comp)
Note: Make sure the valve springs you purchase are matched to the camshaft you plan to run. You do not want the valve springs to go into coil bind (maximum compression of the spring till its solid) because this will cause a major failure in the motor.
Along with valve springs, you will need locks, retainers, shims, and valve stem seals (16). The LT4 valve springs located in the LT4 "hot cam" kit should NOT be considered to be run with any cam due to the fact they are known to be very weak and only have a max lift rating of .540 which is not high enough for most off the-shelf camshafts.
Proper installation of the valve springs is as important as anything during installation. Make sure to check installed height from the manufacture or shop you get the camshaft and springs from.

Technically the CC305 is pretty mild and will work with stock springs, however it is best to replace them anyway. I have a used CC305 coming out of my T/A this week (today) with about 7-8K on it. PM me if you are interested.
FWIW - This cam has been great at it's a bit more HP/TQ than the common Hotcam.

What more did you want. He asked if he had to change his valve springs I said yes he should. Then i just added that i did not like that cam and wouldn't recommend it, if he cared about my recommendation he would have asked why I didn't like. Then he could have drawn his own conclusions.Same with you. Why waste my time explaining my opinion to someone who doesn't want it. No need to be a ******** about it with your sweet smiley face rolling his eyes.

I got a good deal on some PAC 1218s. Comp 918s or Patriots are all good choices. My buddy is building a cammed LQ9 and he is going with the Patriots. They have a pretty good deal right now. I think 255$ ? But definately new springs. The stock springs are damn near maxxed out now.
