Question about Intake Manifold Paint Prep
I am wanting to paint my LT1 intake manifold. The only problem is I dont want to paint over the stock (sand textured) surface. Is there any way to knock that of to make it smooth without having to spend HOURS sanding this thing? I didn't know if there was any kind of sand blasting I could to to smooth it down or if there were any other know techniques. I dont want to polish it, I just want to get it sooth enough to give it a nice paint job.
Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Brandon

If there is a custom shop around then they should have different types of media that will smooth out the intake, such as fine sanding a car after paint, starting with a rough grit and tapering down to a fine one. Same as the media, there is all types, oyster shells, down to baking soda, but I'm sure this would be costly.

Wasn't sure it would work but I sandblasted my intake which gave it a smooth surface then painted with some high temp paint. It turned out good although I should've gave it a clear coat too!
