is there a way you can pull the pulley off of the waterpump?

Default is there a way you can pull the pulley off of the waterpump?

im fixing to powdercoat all my pulleys and waterpump,is there a way to pull that pulley?its a 2002 ls1.and the engine is on the stand.

i removed the pump and taped the pulley off real good and painted mine. i sprayed a lil behind the pulley and cant see where the paint ends or any unpainted areas

I'd be worried about the seals in the water pump surviving the baking.

i thought the older water pumps had the pulley bolt on IIRC

the pulley would have to be pressed on and off, there is no other way to do it.

So powder coating the W/p will mess up the seals?

I was told by various powdercoaters that it possibly could mess up the seals....just depends on what temp they use to bake it.

yes that is true. older WP pulleys were bolted on

I got the same problem.. I have my timing cover and valve covers power coated black hammertone... I wanted to do the water pump but I dont even want to risk it usually the temps that are used to melt the coating is between 300-500 degrees.. the pully needs to be pressed on and off.. But I just decited to rattle can the pump black.. I think it should look fine..
