Default Car won't start.. not cranking over

Battery seems fine. I tried jumping the car and it didn't work. The voltage is fine. All I get is a little click when I turn the key. Could the starter have gone bad?

Sounds like the battery to me, is it showing about 12.6V?

Yeah. It's in that range. Every other part works fine though. I guess I'll take the battery in tomorrow and get it tested. I would think the car would start up on a jump if it were the battery, though.

What kind of car did you jump your Firebird with? If you use something like a foreign compact, you won't even make a dent with regard to the power that a V8 needs to start. For jumping, you'll have better results with a large V6 car or another V8.

I was giving the car one last crank before I started checking fuses, then the battery, then the starter. It fired right up. That's great and all, but it doesn't solve the problem because it's happened once before. Does this help narrow the issue down?

Your ignition relay could have been stuck. I've had this problem happen to my wife before. Since I was a long way away, I told her to open the fuse/relay box, pull it out.. tap it on the side a bit, then stick it back in. It worked.

Ignition relay is labeled on one of your fuse boxes under the hood. "IGN relay"

You can swap it with one of your fan relays to see if that fixes the issues. They are the same.

If your fuses all look good, check your grounds. I had this problem and after replacing fuses and the starter and the cables going to the starter, etc... it turned out to be the main ground.

Funny story, same retarded guy across the street saw me working on my car, and when I told him the symptoms he assured me it was the camshaft.
