would be a start and should be cheaper than doing the oil pump. of course it could also be somethin like a burnt wire, fuse etc. but at least you know now that you are gettin oil pressure.
just need to troubleshoot like if it happens when dod kicks in or whatever. somethin worse may be wrong....

I just replaced the oil pressure switch and everything that was wrong with it was fixed (dod was stuck in 8cyl mode,tire pressure light and remote start works now.... all due to a simple little sensor. Hope this helps.

@Yeyo
I know this is a major thread resurrection, but I am having the same issue with my 2006 Impala SS.
I had also diagnosed it to a bad oil pressure switch, and was wondering how easy the fix was. I am a moderately handy shade tree mechanic, is this too much for me to tackle? Or right in my 'wheel house'?
Where is the sensor located? Any help would be appreciated! Like doing these kinda jobs myself!

Or take it somewhere? Cost estimate??

it was not bad I did it in the dark with a flash light in about 10 minutes. I could not find it anywhere so I had to buy it from the stealership for about $87.
