Default Rod bolts

I was wondering if you can reuse the rod cap bolts on a Ls2 or are they the TQ to yeild and must be thrown out.

I wouldn't reuse them and knowing GM they are torque to yield also.

Here ya go.....

Note the recommend an additional 10 degrees of torque on the final pass.

I would just put new ones, unless you popped a cap just to check a bearing. If you're rebuilding, I'd get a fresh set of bolts.

DO NOT RE-USE!!!! i just went through this process after buying a long block with a broken crank bolt in it... replaced the crank and re-used the rod bolts. After 1500 miles i began to lay into it and with no warning engine went Ka-boom. One rod was completely broken off the crank upon teardown... broken rod bolt! i followed the torque spec and process to the T and supervised by a local racer and engine builder.

Spend 70$ or the 100$ and get the pro ARP. Its not worth it... TRUST ME

Evidence enough for me. 199 for Katech bolts seems like a better idea then ARP's though

sorry to jump in your thread .. but i have a 2003 lq4 6.0 i'm putting my stang .. and i want to replace the rod bolts with arp's... but not get into a rebuild motor looks good , just want to have the sercurity they are there .. if doing so.. what is the proper way of doing this ? take out 1 bolt at a time then tourque them together ? not to distrub the rod caps , or if i wanted to check the rod bearings for wear .. would this open a can of worms ? ...
