Default what convertor

Trying to help a buddy decide on what convertor to run behind a LT1 with a th400. It currently has a 4500 stall in it, and it is starting to blow through the convertor. He is spraying the car also. Can anyone suggest what brand and size convertor would be best to run in the car? We were thinking that the 4500 is way too much convertor. Any help is appreciated.

what is done to the car like heads/cam? also what gear and tire size? there are nitrous convertors out there that have a anti-balooning plate so that could be a route if he sprays on a regular basis and not just once and a while, let us know what mods and we can help you better...

The car is a 383 with stock heads with alot of work and C/I. I am running a Th400 3.73's and a 26x11.5. The motor was built for the gas..

unported heads?

what cam specs?

I'd imagine for a stock heads car with n2o a 3000-3400 would be a decent fit

the heads are heavily ported and flow around 300. The cam specs I don't know, it was a custom ground. But I do know that it is close to the cc306 with I believe a 114 lobe seperation. I could be wrong, I would have to double check with my buddy for the exact numbers.

I'd say somewhere around 3500 more or less depending on amount of nitrous of course

I'm no huge convertor setup guru though just a guesstimate
