Default Installing Caddy racing lifters, what is their preload??

Im doing a cam install and am installing the following components;

Custom Grind Cam(spec'd by PatrickG)
7.425" TSP pushrods(recommended by PatrickG)
CTSV-R Lifters
Stock 1.7 rockers

Anyways, what is the recommended lifter preload for the CTSV-R lifters? Is it the typical .080" or less or more?

Mine took about 1 1/4 turns from zero lash to 22lb/ft. That works out to about .050". I would have preferred 1 turn or .040 but I didn't want to shim or buy new push rods and mess with my wipe.

Does the engine have the typical sewing machine noise??

I got a dial indicator and magnetic base to check preload..

There is some sewing machine noise since my cam has an aggressive ramp and over .600 lift.However I think it's muted some by the iron block, plus my exhaust is quite loud.

You really don't need a dial indicator' because 1 full turn is .040". I torque in 1/4 turn increments. You start a zero lah, which is the point where the push rod won't turn freely in your fingers. then start counting the 1/4 turns till you get to 22lbft of torque. If you go over 1 1/2 turns go to a shorter PR.

I have mine installed 1 turn (0.050) over preload. That is what the guy that does some of the engine building at scoggin dickey recommended.

preload is set by the pushrods, not the turns of the rocker bolt. you always torque the rocker to 22lbs.

Yeah but you can get your preload amount by turns of the rocker arm. I had around .050" at 22 ft lbs. I tried both ways(dial indicator and turn method).
