ls2 vs. fast.
I currently have an LS6 intake is there any benefit to going to the ls2 intake other than the bigger 90mm tb? Is there a huge difference for the 800 dollar difference between the fast and the ls2?

The OP has an LS1 engine from a 2002 Z28. He says the engine has no mods. The fast intake won't give you a good gain. Don't put on a fast until you at least have all the bolt on mods and a cam.
And FYI, Sweet's dyno graph is a 6.0 LS engine, not a 5.7 like the LS1. His dyno graph is comparing the LS2 and the fast. So you probably won't see gains like his if you swap your LS6 for a fast, especially with your current mods.

Power gains are relative too, you seem to imagine there is a huge difference between a 5.7L and 6.0L. Its not really that different. If a 6.0L picks up 21hp, a 5.7 would most likely gain 17hp (ish).
I post to help people with their questions, even if they are the samequestions...over..and over...and over again. And everytime its a FAST LSX related question I always wonder how long it will be until you see it and again try to discredit good data.

- displacement (as you said)
- stock intake manifold
- cylinder heads (241 vs LQ9 -> 243 ports with a bigger chamber)
So it's not really comparing apples to apples.
And bolting a fast intake onto a stock 2002 LS1 doesn't give much gain at all.
If someone asks if bolting a fast onto a stock LQ9 will give a good gain you have the perfect data for them.

got a dyno graph go show it?
track times?
while i don't think there are huge gains to be had, i think it will still make power.
and whether its worth the added cost is TOTALLY up to the buyer.
if he's planning cam or h/c down the road, and wants to tinker with the engine as it is now...why not get the fast.
i say do it....and post dyno results

No, no.
But from reading a lot of posts I think the gains will be pretty small.
As you know the 2002 has an LS6 intake from the factory. The fast will probably gain a few HP in the upper RPM, might lose a few at other RPM.
I agree completely.
What mods to get is a personal choice of course, different for everyone. Getting a fast as the 1st mod on a stock LS1 engine isn't a great choice if you want to see gains before you upgrade H/C. If anyone just wants to tinker or even just likes the look of it that's cool, get the fast.
To the OP I say don't do it until you have all the bolt on's and a cam and/or heads.

wow yah ok guys haha didnt want to start a fight!! thanks for the input i do understand 317 heads are identical to 243's with added chamber volume thats is the reason i have a set for my ls1. anyways thanks for the info basically i wont bother getting an intake till its actually my limiting problem as i know the ls6 intake is a well manufactured piece. thanks again!
