Default what strenth battery for my compression?

I want to buy a lightweight battery (its going to say in the enginebay) and I see that a lot of them have a low rating of cranking amps. And I have 12.56 compression and I wanted to see what's about the minimum I should go in ca or in cca. I don't want to have jumper cables handy all the time. Thanks for any valuable imput.

My $.02. You may want to also take into account the starter. Even if you have enough juice to power it the starter may not be up to the task. Then again I don't know how strong GM starters are.

But to answer your question I'd get atleast 675 cca or more.

starter is going to be your first and big issue, the battery will be fine with anything over 700cca

I can tell you for a fact, that the 6.0 starter cranks over with more power, than the F-body one, or the vette one. i know, I changed a few in one day, because I kept overtightening the electrical bolts, and they are very frail.

I like the Yellow top Optima...

You could always take your stock starter someplace & have them rebuild, and beef it up to crank out more juice.

I was wondering the same thing as the OP. I notice that most of the lightweight batteries are only rated at 225-300 cca's iirc.

I know some of the braille batteries have CCA's in the 500's and are pretty light
