Default LT1 rear calipers on an LS1 with a Moser 12 bolt

My Weld Prostar 15x10's required so much griding that I ground through the top side of the caliper and they still hit. So, I'm looking to go to LT1 rear brakes but just want to make sure they will work with the Moser 12 bolt. Anyone have experience doing this? TIA!

With the correct backing plates, you will be fine. Not sure if there is anything different as far as lines are concerned. I had a 94z28 with a moser and then bought my 2002 t/a and I xfer the rear over. I had to have the bearings taken off and new plates put on and then re pressed the bearings.

Like said my only concern was for the caliper soft lines to hard lines, I forget the diff as it has been 2 years since doing the job.

You would have to use the other backing plates. I'd put a set of stock calipars on, and put some wheels on it that fit without grinding. Give Steve at SJM a call, and he can take care of you. Billet Specialties and Weld R/T's will also work.

I have LT1 rear breaks on my car. Even with the backing plates, the parking brake is such a PITA, that I did away with it. Other than that, you just have to adjust brake lines because the calipers are opposite. I think the LS1 caliper mounts on the foward side of the rotor, and the LT1 mounts to the rear of the rotor. Could be opposite though.

i have a 3rd gen 12 bolt and it came with lt1 brakes and backing plates and everything- instead of tearing into the rear, i just reused the brakes

no noticeable difference in braking at all!

jmill96Z: if you have all the necessary equipment, why is the parking break still a PITA. Please explain the issues associated...thanks!

my drivers parking break still doesnt work, the ebrake will hold the car on level ground, but i will never leave the car not in gear

it was a poor design from the factory- my bolt on the driver side is stripped and is like press fitted in- havent really looked at it enough yet
