Default 98 SS winter project...

Got it all done, here are some details...

Ahead of time you'll have to forgive me for the quality of the pictures and the car being a bit dirty. I had to go snap these between classes, gonna be a busy next couple of weeks so I figure I'd just put up a few pics right now. This was my winter project (and last winters) on my college budget... Did the cam swap a few winters ago... This winter I concentrated mostly on suspension and rear/trans. The car drives excellent with the TH400 and is much more fun then the previous 6 setup. Thanks to Eric at MWC the car hooks like crazy!

A few highlights: tried to take a few pictures of the stance and wheels as that is what people have been complimenting the most...

-MS4 Cam only w/ supporting valvetrain
-TH400 w/ transbrake
-TSI XHD 4000 stall convertor
-Stealth pro ratchet shifter
-Midwest Chassis 9 inch narrowed 3 inch per side and accompanying suspension
-QA1 fronts
-Twin in tank Walbro 255 pumps
-NX Wet kit
-Greg weld wheels front and back 15x10 (4.5 in backspacing out back) w/ MT 275 ET Radials.

Not fitting? They fit great... I actually am running lt1 rear brakes for ease... Very little grinding involved. Like I said the rear wheels have 4.5 in. bs because the rear is narrowed 3 inches per side...

Well a narrowed rear can def open up rim options. I must have miss read, I was assuming stock LS1 style rear and stock length axle tubes.

I re-read and I caught that. I do like Greg Weld alot but not looking to narrow my Moser anytime soon.

Yeah... It was definitely an option for me as I sold my last 9 inch and was having eric build me a new one anyways... I love the option of wheels with a narrowed rear... Uses a lot more traditional depth/combo wheels...

The old school look of those rear wheels (deep dish) is killer. I too someday am going for that look. I plan on sending my Bogarts back to have them widened, whenever I have enough cash for a real rearend.

Yeah... very affordable trans setup and actually selling your 6 speed will offset the cost...

As for the numbers on my window the car broke the previous 9 inch rearend at the track last year, I just shoved it away in the garage after that, hince the numbers still on it. I will have it at the track this Saturday though. Hoping for some new bests

Those rear wheels look really nice. I wish they still sold them.

Update... Car ran 11.9 @113 on motor yesterday. Picked up .5 with an automatic. Ran pretty good considering the car is setup for nitrous.

Nitrous on the other hand, I was having a lot of trouble blowing through my convertor. Oh well, such is life, pull it out and have it gone back through.

I'lll seee what I can do... it was launching about the same as your avatar pic...

Anti-roll bar makes the car leave very level and straight with slight air under each front tire!

Get in contact with me about the th400 stuff... There's a local trans shop that builds one hell of a th400 on the cheap and stands behind his work...
