Default Replacing stock variable a/c compressor with something else???

Is there a sanden or other style a/c compressor out there that will mount in the same location as the stock LS2 V7 a/c compressor? I'd like to run a/c in my car, but I'm not looking forward to the misc sensors and controls to get the variable style compressor to work.

Everything is more or less the same, no matter what compressor you go with. Its no big deal.

I remember someone saying the early Gen III trucks used non-variable ones. May be check those out 99-2000?

It only has one sensor which has a low press and high press switch in it. How many less sensors do you want?

The refrigerant AC pressure sensor has nothing to do with using a fixed or variable displacement compressor. The AC pressure sensor allows the PCM to do the functions of a trinary switch (cut out compressor at high/low high-side pressure, turn on fans, and kick up idle). I'm using a 99 LS1 Camaro's refrigerant AC pressure sensor with my Sanden compressor and Vintage Air GENIV system.

If you want you can convert your compressor from a variable to a fixed. I posted a thread do a search. I am going to use my compressor with a vintage air setup. Don't believe that a variable compressor will not work. The biggest issue is that the rest of the system should be setup for a R134 and hopefully not a R12 retrofit setup.

I think the question is 'what other applications will bolt up to the stock bracket?'

I am interested in the same - please share if you find any info.

they make a bracket to use a Sanden R134a 508 Compressor on LS1 its not a dual stage like stock. the whole setup would cost about 350 but save headaches i would think
