Which Heads are best for MTI B1 Cam? 5.7, 5.3, PP LQ9/LS6
I'm thinking about upgrading my heads. Which heads would give the best results when using the MTI B1 221/221 .559/.559 114. I don't plan on using nitrous or FI. Should I go with a Stage II 5.7, or 5.3 for more compression, or even the Patriot LQ9/LS6? I know the LQ9/LS6 whould be over kill for this baby cam (by todays standards), but if I ever do go with a larger cam I won't have to worry about heads. Are there any drawbacks to using the LQ9/LS6 with this little cam?

Thanks for all the replys. I've actually emailed MTI about the STG IIE, but they haven't replied yet. It's only been 2 weeks, I'm sure they are busy getting ready for the shootout or something.

I'm loving my LS6 style heads. I think they would work great with a "smaller" cam. I wish someone would go ahead and do that, I'd like to see the numbers they get.

When I asked after overlaying the S2E flow graph with the S2R flow graph and seeing they were almost completely identical...if I recall correctly...MTI said...
You are not missing anything. We have developed a way to produce a 300+ CFM head w/o bronze guides and larger seats for $1595. exch. These heads will flow the #'s advertised and we will give you a flow sheet for your exact set of cylinder heads. These heads have been proven to work extremely well but I do recommend you install headers instead of keeping the iron manifolds in place.
The MTI's and the new TEA 2.5's are high on my list...along with LG & Absolute.

I agree, but will they hurt performance compared to a 5.7 Stg IIor 5.3 Stg II?

The LS6 style head will not hurt performance vs a 5.3.On a stock bottom end you will have a gain from the LS6 style vs a 5.3,but it will be relatively small, around 10 rwhp. The head will shine if you go bigger cube later.
