Default just FYI for swapping LQ4 in place of LS1

the iron truck block is missing a very necessary alternator bolt hole. i had to rig it to work for the time being until i can tap it.

that's some breaking news man. that's why you take the block to a machine shop to get the hole drilled and tapped before you install it. it will work just fine without it anyway. you can get a conversion bracket for the price of the machining. that's what i did. relocated it to the top like a truck application.

Yeah, I wouldn't call it very necessary. Mine seems fine without it.

You don't need a machine shop to drill/tap that hole, I did it with a cordless drill and a beer in the other hand.

you dont even need the hole. most high output alt's dont even have the provision for it.

neither of the 6.0's have it nor do the 4.8/5.3s. they left it out machining it after castings it because they wouldn't need it.

Did you put this alt in an LS1 F-body? Was it in the stock location or did you do a relocation kit?
