Spool or TrueTrack ?
I am at a cross roads right now with my car and I need some advice. I currently have my 9 inch Moser torn down for repairs and I am unsure if I should go back with the TrueTrack that was in it or go Spool. I have read several things about the TT and see that it is comfortable at 600 rwhp. I've also seen many people running more than 600 without any problems. My future plans for this car is high 9s on the spray and I want a rearend that will handle it. I rarely street drive the car but it IS NOT a trailer queen unless I break at the track. I know all about the rain issue, chirping of the tires during tight turns etc.. I also know that it weighs alot less and should be very durable. I'm trying to make a long term purchase to handle future upgrades so I can turn the page on this issue. Please give me some real world experiences to go on, thanks in advance!

I would say that if you know the issues you are going to have with the spool as far as the way it drives and you are ok with that just buy the spool. I am running a spool in my car and I drive it a fair amount on the street. However I do trailer it to the track when I go. But I have driven the car 4 hours to the beach and I don't mind it. The spool is cheaper and your not going to break it

Get a spool, not a mini, a FULL spool, there not that bad on the street, just don't get yourself in a tight spot where you need to turn sharp like parking spaces, i ran one for awhile, it wasn't that bad, but for the added insurance of its strength, its worth it, so in a nut shell, there stronger, but cheaper then a true-trak, or trak-lok, or anything with clutches.

mini spool is a smaller weaker version, generally a waste of time. Definately go with a spool though, that tru-crap is a total waste. I have seen 10 cars now break those POS diff's with less then 450 rwhp. They're complete junk, and shoudl be pulled off the market.
If I was in the part's slinging business, I would refuse to sell those things to anyone, even if there was a 500% markup simply becasue I wouldn't want to hear about it when they melt apart.

I currently have a tru trak in my car and ran it when it was a m6. I made 540 rwhp and ut survived 35 passes down the track and many of those were 7K rpm clutch drops. But I will be changing it out to a spool this winter before it breaks with the new setup but I will be in search of a sub 1.3 60'

I would use a spool......we ran a 35 spline Detroit locker in one of our project cars and swore never to use one again. The locker was nosier than hell turning and was unpredictable on when and if it was going to unlock and re lock. Now granted a locker is tough and would never break but at least with a spool there was no guessing on what the rear of the car was going to due while going thru a corner......

LOCKER!! seriously, you wont break it, and they're alot more streetable then a spool. honestly, if you think a spool is more streetable then a locker...
mwc 9 with full suspension, no issues at all on the street with the locker, the car gets driven EVERYWHERE. no tires barking, no weirdness in turns. you notice it SLIGHTLY parking, but its just a slight unlocking feeling, nothing weird or scary.
