Your looking to get out, i'm looking to get back in. I've been looking for months now, and i haven't really seen much outside of the very few stealerships hiring. I've checked with all of the local performance shops as well, and not a single thing. What dealership are you at now?

I'll work at a performance shop for Chevys.

I've been at an independent BMW shop for over a year and I'm just tired of working for a cheap crack head who shotguns every issue with a car. I'd work at a dealership too, even if I have to start as a lube tech.

I've come to realize that most independent shops have crackhead owners.

After 11 years of busting my *** for the owner to make money, while he kept raising his rates to the customers and me getting nothing, I finally decided it was time for a career change.

IDK about a career change, but definately would be a good time to leave. That's what happened to my brother.

Yeah, but for people like us who only have an automotive background, how hard is it to get into something like that?

Not really hard at all, I went from a full automotive background to the Industrial sector without a hitch. Everything is mechanical at a plant and everything needs to be assembled or fixed. If you are mechanically inclined and can prove it you shouldnt have a problem getting the job. Plants and Subcontractors always have hiring lists up somewhere. Start as a hand and work on up.

For the most part, working for Firestone sux. But, the one job that sux the least is tech. Given the right store, I've seen some guys do really well.

Are you freakin kidding me?! Techs on a draw? Damn, I'd hate to see what the advisors are making.
