Default forged 347.. how strong is it?

I found a good deal on a stock ls1 block. I am wanting to build a engine right now and Im kind of thinking about doing a 347, I am going to do a good set of rings, rods and pistons in it. The car will be on a 200 shot also. Just wondering what type of power you guys are making on this setup. Also what is the max power you think my block could handle? I figure on running a decent cam, it will be 24x's durations and stage 2.5 5.3 heads.

Should I not do this and look at going more towards a lq9 or 4?

thanks for any input guys...

I've seen a lot of guys go upwards of 700+ HP with turbo setups.

I just built a forged LS6 (newer block) uses the shorter LS2 head studes.
Going to make 650-700 RWHP with procharger

Sounds alot like my setup. I didn't have any dyno numbers, but it was running 10.0's nosing over around the 1000' with the LS6 intake.

Im really wanting to run low 10's on the car...

Also, am I stupid to do this on a 98 block, I know they dont have as much meat on them, but i figured I could atleast get it to a 347 right? If not theres another block I can purchase, its just the 98 was pretty cheap.

I plan on making ~750 RWHP from my setup.

1998 LS1 Block
Stock Crank
Callies Compstar Rods
Wiseco 2618 coated pistons
ARP hardware (studs whever applicable)
Clevite 77 H Series Bearings w/ Durabond Cam Bearings
Stage III Heads
Boost

You should certainly be able to make 10 second power out of a forged 347, just make sure you have a good controller for that nitrous and you should be fine.

I've made over 850rwhp on my TSP 347cid short-block without any problems. We offer compete rotating assemblies, if you decide to build one give us a call! I bet we can help put together a nice combo for you!!!

Thanks for the help guys. I have a decent controller right now, so im not too worried about that. Also my car is going on a diet, Ive already lost a few things on it now.

I like what everyone is telling me, from the looks I think the forged 347 will work great for me. also jason ill give you a call, and see what you got.

I made 580 rwhp when I lived at sea level on my forged 347 from TSP. Now I'm at 520 rwhp at 5,600 feet elevation, on 11 #'s of boost. This winter I'm going to a smaller pully and some meth to brake the 600rwhp mark. The bottom end doesn't worry me one bit. A 200 shot won't be a problem... Hit it with a 300 shot

I'm going with a LQ9. You have to ask yourself, why did GM put this block into their 3/4 ton trucks and Esquilades? Durability. It's cheap, strong, and good to 1000 rwhp.

Yeah, that was my original plan, but I can get bare ls1 blocks and crank for pretty damn cheap also. I save the weight also. Yes I do agree, rhe blocks are strong though.

Actually, I'm gonna go with it is cheaper for Iron and since it isn't a performance vehicle and a truck....the extra weight is not an issue.

Compstar Rods, Diamond Forged Pistons 9.5 to 1, Mahle Piston Rings. 3 of us out of the AIR Shop are right around mid to high 800's. All blower Nitrous apllications. 1-YSI, 2- G Trims Vortech Superchargers.
