Why do so many people hate on the A4?!
I know im stirring up a flame here but I just have to ask... Everywhere you go, "Ah thats a nice car!, ohh but its a auto...." It drives me or, this is my fav... "That other car will win, why? cause you have an auto they're slow...".
I've owned three 6 speeds, and dont get me wrong they're great cars, ofcourse.. they're F-bodys! but, everyone ive owned gave me nothing but grief and very inconsistant at the track. So, I went to an auto and its been great to me. Very consistant at the track, snaps when it shifts and, is the fastest (for the mods) that ive had. I hear alot of people say there inferior to the 6 speed(trap speed, and et) but, with the little mods I have I trap the same if not better than 6 speeds.
So, my question is... Why do they hate sooooooooooooooo much?!?!?!
Sorry for the rant but I have to get this in the open!!

Let me explain one thing that got me through that same issue. I had people doing word for word what they did to you. "oh nice car.....ah damn its an auto. That sucks" What I realized was that the people who are saying that dont know **** about cars. The car guys I go to the track with know autos take care of business. They dump money left and right trying to get their cars to be consistent/quick and they know if I hook thats their ***. Equally modded of course, me with a converter.

I unfortunately don't have a stalled auto but I do take them for a ride and show them my 1/4 mile times! I think even in its stock form it ripped, When I got mine, I had been used to 6 speeds and I was impressed. Most autos I rode in were slouches....

A good stall will only improve your top end....hard to tell with trap speed. Mine stayed the same from stock stall to Yank ST3500 to Yank SS4000 (107 MPH at the time). Get one and never look back. Autos are just as much fun as 6-speeds with a good converter. My first car was a 6-speed SS and I'll take this A4 Hawk over it any day!

i dont really get that from people at all.
but another reason could be people have bad experiences with automatic trans shops so they get a bad rap. Like when a company says your getting something your really not. Then you end up going with a different company who finally gets it right after months of BS.
plus most cars on the road are so damn slow that there extremely boring to drive. They dont have the power or torque to move the car like f-bodies or other "performance" cars.

ok, I've owned four F body's since I was a kid (all V8's). My first 95 Z28 (bought by my parents after high school) was great not too many problems and was a blast for a stock a4, next was a 2000 SS bought new in '01, Had a few minor transmission problems, ended up letting it go back to the bank (young). Next in line was my 98 with 68K miles in '05. The a4 gave me a lot of problems and after a rebuild (stage three and stall) it got even worse. I had it rebuilt four different times and it was an absolute dog. A few buddies of mine had A4's and every last one of them had a 4L60E take a **** on them. I WILL NEVER OWN OR SPEAK HIGHLY OF AN A4 F body ever again in my life. My current car is an 01 ss with an Ls2 and M6. I have more top end than my A4 with 373's (I would top out at 137-139 mph. I think the m6's are just way more durable.

mariojmoe, Maybe it was the builder of the transmission? I have had 3 ATI transmissions. First was a glide and 5,500 stall. Ran 10.0's and never broke. Second was a reverse manual valve body in my sons Mustang. Never broke. Current is TH350 and 3,200 stall. Takes all the abuse I can throw at it.
