Big Cube Sleeper potential???

Big Cube Sleeper potential???
First off I have been out of this for awhile, I used to follow this stuff pretty closely but haven't for awhile and therefore am a little out of date.
Anyways what I am thinking about or wondering about is how much power could I make with a big cube engine like 454 while still retaining a smooth idle. Sort of the ultimate sleeper, something I could fit in my 02 Camaro SS without any tell tales that I did anything. Like I am even thinking of keeping my stock SLP exhaust.
Your thoughts and ideas?

I got a 427 that idles like stock but you can hear from the Exhaust that its camed
Its a smaller cam 232/242/ 650 lift and 115 lsa.
With cats and quiet muffles i think it would pass close to being stock. But not sure and to add all that stuff would kill power

Of course you can and it will make more trq than Hp. But most poeple once in big cube territory want it all out of it.
You can make a 500rwhp 454 as tame as a stock car, untill you mistakingly put your foot down

Vengeance did a 496 Warhawk block thats kind of a sleeper. Since all the standard deck LS blocks have the same dimensions the only give away would be the sound. I would run a pretty queit exhaust like a magnaflow catback with a cutout in the I pipe. Get a ported fast sanded down and powder coated flatblack like a stock gm intake, black headers to not attract any attention, stock valve covers, then you could pop the hood and no one would know any better.
A guy that doesn't know the LS stuff wouldn't know the difference between the sound anyway and if they got suspicious you could always say it was a 383.

yeah i wouldnt buy that unless i wanted an all out race car. heres an idea, run a 408 with a decent h/c/i set up and then run 2 kits on the car. make one kit visable and hide the other. if they find one i doubt they will look for the other one.

I like the warhawk block idea, but I thought I read somewhere that a re-sleeved LS2 block would work just as well as long as I don't use any power adders (ie blower, turbo, nos)? And I don't know what the cost comparison would be, I haven't found one online yet? I also looked at the LSX block and while I am sure the weight difference is negligible I don't know if I like replacing an aluminum block with a steel one.
As for the hp loss, I am not to worried about that, in fact what got me on this train of thought was doing a head cam swap for 500hp but I figured I could get near the same hp just smoother if I did a big disp. And while more the 500 is interesting I start to get worried about axle breakage, trans breakage and (I know I really have to go hog wild) car breakage like bending the chassis since I do have t-tops.
One thing I don't want is extra tubes inside the car, no matter what I do with the engine.

for 500 hp you could do a 383 with your current block, some nice heads and an aggressive cam. Or a 408 with some milled L92's and a custom cam. Either way you'll be at 500 or past it. Some people are even making around 500 with a stock cube LS2 with L92's.
