Default LQ9 under the knife soon

Alright people, car is going in tomorrow to get my LQ9 put in.

Stock 6.0 liter cubes
Stock 317 heads

Predator Z cam 230/228 .592/.588 110-1 LSA (9 degrees of overlap )
Lid
1 3/4 stainless headers
TSP true duals (sweet thunders)
3600 edge racing stall (4L60E)
LS6 intake manifold
Random free mod here and there.

What am I putting down? With my boltons and this same stall, it did 330 hp 340 tq in 95 degree weather in the shade.

If you get it right, I will paypal you $1

Definitely stronger than an LS1, especially considering the torque and fact that it still made those numbers through a stall. I got no idea what it'll make, but keep us posted. After I get my money under control, I'll be slowly going your route.

Why the choice to stick with 317s? Budget?

378/381

If I win, I'm going to need $1.03 to cover paypal fees.

Budget yes as far as the 317s go, and I'm not entirely sure on which direction I want to go for future power actually...

Everyday it changes between forced induction and a crazy *** NA build... So it would a shame if I spent the $2k on a nice set of heads and regret it.

And jetlag,
Paypal fee will be accounted for

I can't see it going that high with really just a cam and headers on stock compression. The stall will eat up some anyways so I am leaning more toward 350hp/362tq. You should have a little room for milling, then if you decided to go boosted later just add back the room for lower compression with thicker gaskets.

whats wrong with 317 heads? they are basically the same thing a s 243 799 head but with larger chamber. the 243 and 799 have the benefit of acheiving higher scr. other than that. same thing.
in a 370ci .030 over lq4 i put togther with stock milled 317 heads, lpe gt11 cam, full bolt ons and makes 416rw thru stalled 60e. cam is less than 220 duration on intake

stock lq9 is 10:1 stock, so if he mills and uses thinner gasket such as ls9 it will significantly raise the scr and improve the quench area. its possible to achieve up to 10.6:1 with milled 317 and thin gasket.
although if he does that, then has to account for ptv and will have to machine in relieves to the pistons for correct install.

Oh yeah, I have thought about that for sure, but it really isn't fitting into my Summer budget, otherwise I would have done something along those lines.

However, I have no desire to worry about PTV clearance so that removed it from the equation as well.

I think my power goals would be out of reach from a set of 317s if I was to do something NA build related, but boost related, I know they could get the job done (Obviously it has been done many times in the forced induction section).

WYATT318MOPAR- I'm genuinely interested for your reasoning on such a little leap in power. It looks like you have a 6.0 from your sig, so that's why I ask. I mean, I don't put too much effort it trying to achieve dyno numbers for number contests, but keeping same compression, bumping up the cubes and adding a mild/medium cam only would give me 20 hp/tq?

Your only gaining like what 15 cubic inches and a mild cam. I know my car is a different animal all together because my tranny cannot be locked during a pull with it being a 400th. My engine is also pushing 11.6:1 and only puts down 374hp at the wheels. I just don't see you gaining that much with so little changing and no leap in compression that is what really wakes these 6.0's up. I am also maxing out the current set of 28.8 injectors in the car "36's on the way" which is normally something that happens in the 420-430 rwhp range. Don't get me wrong it will be a torque motor and probably a blast to drive. I am actually looking forward to see what it does put down just to see if I am close. I don't know what you were really shooting for as you keep talking about going forced induction.

Yeah, this setup is something to hold me over for the interim while I get something more concrete as a route for power. I know that I'm turning it into a 408. I am considering either doing a d1sc setup after, or a significantly worked L92 headed higher compression motor. Both radically different from
one another, but they will achieve what I want. I want to drive in both before I decide.

I would be more than ok if it dynoed a number like that, but doesn't everyone hope theirs are just a little extra kind of in that hopeless optimism boat right now lol :/ realism wouldn't hurt though.

I have been hard shopping on some L92's but the intake choices really suck in my opinion don't really want to even think about a L76, I hate Fast and would never pay that much for an intake that was plastic, leaning towards either a sheet metal or something along the single plain line if I can find such a thing. My top end is really holding me back right now I feel like the LS6 is choking my motor on the big end but based of intake pressures on the dyno the tuner says no. Told me the other day that a fast 90 setup would probably only net another 20rwhp that is a lot of cash for a little gain in my opinion. The car runs great I keep changing things so haven't really got to the track all year went to a little 300 ft track last week and got rained out shooting for low 4's on motor.

Yeah, I have people that say the LS6 intakes don't get enough credit, and those that say switch it for a FAST asap. Ported LS3 intake was the intake I was assuming for the L92s however, but I'm not sure how expensive that was in relation to the FAST (or performance for that matter)

Damn you Stealing all my thread thunder with your nonsense! In other news, if you ever feel the urge to go to firebird in the coming months, let me know.

Hopefully I can get my 16s from back home, and throw some DRs on it, and I'll be down. 1st is useless on the street, let alone at Fireslick. I want to make it out to SW one day...but **** that is a drive for us. Will your car be done by Thursday?

Ahh, probably not done by thursday. Optimistically, I'm looking at the car being done Friday night/ Saturday morning, then tuning immediately after. Still need to sort out finding a set of M/Ts.

I don't think Nittos are going to cut it for me and my stall anymore :/

Oh also, firebird has decent track prep, but I've always heard SW was the worse of the two (I haven't been to SW, so I can't comment too much on it... and I refuse to drive up there regardless).
