Thinking of a procharger
Iv been thinking when my pocket feels comfortable I think Id like to do some forced induction.
Ill start off with whats done to the car now. I really dont know much about superchargers or which is best.
LS6 Crate (6000 miles)
Stock 243s with .660 lift springs
Magic Stick Cam
FAST 90/90
42lb injectors
1 7/8 Long Tubes
6 speed
Car puts down 405 on a DynoTune
and 424 on a Dyno Jet @ 6200 RPMs
I really like the Procharger kit..Price and install looks and seems to be better..
What all would I want to change to put a procharger on the car, its a weekend toy, not a race car, just want a nice number to the tire.
Being a Firehawk would I have to cut the hood?
Im sure Ill need injectors but how big?

The D1-SC with an intercooler and about 10-12 psi will be pretty safe and put you over the 500rwhp mark. I don't know the specs on your cam so it may or may not be good for a blower. It will fit under your stock hood and I would recommend 60#injectors

good news ===> the procharger mounts low in the engine compartment so your hood is safe
bad news===> the MS4 with its big overlap is great for nice n/a performance but with boost it just lets the compressed air exit out of the exhaust valve before the compression stroke is done.
For a cruiser where max effiecency isnt the goal than the cam might not matter much but if your looking to get your moneys worth from the blower than the cam will have to go. Most blower cams have wider lsa than n/a cams like 115 vs the n/a 112 or 113. EPP has blower specific cams that still give a nice lope if thats what you like.
ProCharger is a good choice and the D1sc will give you stock long block all it wants and then if you ever go forged it can make even bigger power. Look at 'Trust' he has a D1sc making over 800 to the wheels but theres other guys that aren't forged making 500 and 550 to the wheels. I would say thats a good all around choice.

+2 on changing cams. contact epp they will help you out with everything. you can buy their complete kit and it comes with the fuel upgrades. you can push 500rwhp easy but how is your trans and rear end? they probably wont last to long

Iv got a buddy who has a cam very similar to my MS4, Its same duration, lobe sep and just a bit smaller lift of intake side and hes making 900 (with meth) to the wheels, now its forged bottom end and a LOT of boost..but anyway..
My tranny is a stock 6 speed and rear is stock but its geting a 12 bolt in the next week or so. Id like to see 550 to the wheels if not more but thats a goal I thought id set. If the bottom end goes, I guess while its out stroke it also..ya know..but thanks for the input..Ill look into changing cams..I just put it in 3 weeks ago lol..

12psi will be too much for your stock bottom end, dont listen to that first guy. Good news though, you should be able to make 500+ with 8psi from a D1SC. I'd recommend swapping the LS6 heads for some truck heads (317 or 035- same thing) and swap out the cam also to either the EPP blower cam or a speed inc SC2. This should get you well into the 500-550rwhp range with some 60# injectors and a fairly conservative tune.
One thing to watch out for- the procharger kit uses a single 16" fan that isn't sufficient enough for summer temps. Lots of people add an additional 9" puller fan, and if that doesn't do it for ya, you may have to add a pusher or 2, and look into a bigger radiator possibly.

I have a firehawk as well and Im making a little over the 500rwhp mark on just 7lbs through an automatic. I would definetly change the cam so you can take full advantage of the boost. You dont have to cut or change your hood.

Are you guys decent mechanics?...it doesnt take a engineering degree to install the kit but you do need to have some mechanical aptitude. Dont forget the fuel system and tune as well. I'll say and i'm sure others will agree 100% that the tune is VERY VERY important, just make sure you get it tuned by a good tuner. All together you should be able to install it in a weekend or so (not including problems and set backs lol)

Iv got a guy thats good at tuning..I thought I would have his shop put it on for me but I want to do it I think. Iv put a walbro 255 on the car is that enough with 60lb injectors?

Make sure your pockets are more than comfortable because when you start making power you will start breaking parts. And I promise you that it will be one thing after the other. I chased the domino effect for over 3 years along with thousands of dollars wasted on that hobby. It got to the point where I just gave up, just parked the car and bought an M3. Couldn't be happier...

I dont think your cam is going to be a serious problem but you just wont get the max from the blower. At moderate power levels for a street car it wont be a problem, but if you ever planning on upping the boost and going ***** out the cam will hurt you.

Agreed!!! yea the cam might hurt some, but will still get the HP you are looking for!! I would watch the Walbro at about 550 RWHP is the limit for it. Some get by and some don't been there done that. A real good tune and you will be fine with that cam. 60pd injectors get my vote!!!
