Default Need Transmisson Advice

I got a 02 Camaro with a T56 pushing somewhere round 400hp and I trashed the transmission tonight. Now my question is what path should I take to build my T56 or buy a whole other transmission that will hold the 500hp motor that im building. Any advice or suggestions would be nice...thanks

I just opted for the Tick lvl. 2 rebuild. I haven't got it back yet but it's rated up to 700 ft lbs. of torque, so it should be able to hang with your build. It's priced very reasonably as well.

If you dont feel confident taking it apart go with the Tick level two.
OR
Spend 300 bucks on parts, tackle the job yourself with the T56 manual

$1,200 for the Tick Stage 2 build. $1,000 for the build and $100 each way for shipping. Like gr8game said its good for 700 foot pounds of torque and you know its done right. BTW, how did you trash your tranny?

Well, all depends on WHAT you trashed will determine if you need to buy another tranny, or just have that one rebuilt. We offer a Level 1 (stock) $800 and level 2 (performance) $900.
http://www.morrismotorsports.net/services

The Level 2 does away with all your weak links in teh tranny (shift keys, fork pads, blocking rings, 3/4 shift fork), as well as new 1/2 and 3/4 synchro's among other's...
BUT, if you broke say a mainshaft (probaly not) or a gear set (or 2 or 3 or ???) replacing hard parts like that WILL add up, QUICK! Give me a better explanation on what your tranny is doing, and I can better explain what MIGHT be wrong with it. Call me or PM/email, and will be happy to assist.

Was doing 150 in fifth went into sixth and twisted the driveshaft in two and cracked the transmission tail shaft. Not sure if it did any damage in side the trany but Im building a motor on the side heads and cam and buch other stuff 600 lift cam and LS2 heads just need something to handle the horespower fro the future. I found Rockford Gears and they have the T56 with viper internals for 1800 or 2800 if no core.

Those are always fun. I've actually had several customers do the exact same thing. Usually its a result of something in the driveshaft being screwed up. A lot of times its a twist in the driveshaft yoke.

Ya it twisted the driveshaft yoke also tore the ears right off it I had a solid trany mount in it also and it cracked the case right above where the transmission mounts. Screwed up a bunch of stuff going to get a safety loop now and stronger driveshaft.....stuff I was going to have to do anyways for my other motor.

Yeah it definately makes you reconsider having a safety loop under your car.

Anytime I put decent power in a car, a driveshaft loop is one of the first items I install.

I think you should pick someone close to you, or atleast in town, that way if you have problems you are not shipping expensive things across the country for UPS to destroy. Just my opinion.

just pick up a plastic tub from Wal Mart (or teh like) and package it up with some towels (DRAIN ALL FLUID) and some padding, seal it up GOOD, call UPS, and they will come pick it up. Piece of cake. Normal shipping is @ $80-$110 depending on where you are at.
