Default T-56 transmission & the LL8 4.2 I6 compatability?

Im not sure if i should ask this here so forgive me if im in the wrong area. There seem to be a lot of knowledgeable people here

Ok, have a buddy with a t-56 transmission out of his SS camaro...

Wondering if this transmission will work with the I6 engine out of the trailblazer?
Its my understanding, the LL8 in trailblazer has a 4L60 and i believe the 4L60 and the T56 share the same style bell housing arrangement. So in theory it should work... if thats the case... can i use an ls7 clutch/fly?

The whole project is looking to go into a 95 240sx.

I also need to figure out if LS1 mounts and LL8 mounts are the same... but thats another story, answer that question if you like.

Thanks!

As far as I know, there were two bellhousing styles on the 4L60E and the t56. The older LT1/ Vortec style and the newer LSx (Gen 3/4) type.

good info, so you are saying it would need to be paired with an older t-56 design?

That doesn't mean that the T56 in question is not out of an LT1 car. The OP did not specify the year of the F-body. I guess if it is an SS, then maybe it is automatically an LS1 car? Then you should be OK with the bellhousing.

We'll he said LS7 clutch and flywheel so I made an assumption. Oh, and 96-97 were LT1's that were SS's. So what year is the trans out of, chief?

ok, so if it bolts up, which clutch assembly would i need? Any upgraded clutch such as an ls1, ACT, etc should work i assume.

The goal is to build this motor with a T-67 turbo so it would need to hold some power.

our 4.2 trailblazer has the 4l60e I think it would work.
